Barbados: Improving Case Management and Trial Preparation

From August 22-23, 2018, NCSC hosted a two-day workshop for police prosecutors and inspectors on Case Management and Trial Preparation.  The workshop was conducted by U.S. law enforcement and prosecutorial advisors and was facilitated by CBSI-Connect, a virtual learning platform funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).

The unique learning platform allowed 69 police prosecutors and inspectors from Barbados and OECS countries to participate in an interactive workshop designed to improve their investigative and prosecutorial capacity. The workshop is part of a broader regional training program for police prosecutors who are tasked with prosecuting the majority of all criminal cases in magistrates’ courts. Similar workshops have been conducted in Trinidad & Tobago and The Bahamas.

The workshop was hosted as part of NCSC’s ongoing work under the Justice Sector Assistance to the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative Program (CBSI), funded by INL. Click here for more information on the CBSI Program.
