JUSTICE SYSTEM REFORM ACTIVITY IN KOSOVO


The Justice Reform Activity in Kosovo Project is a USAID funded multi-year effort being led by implementational partner National Center for State Courts to facilitate transition to an effective and impartial justice system operated and administered by Kosovars Principal activities include

trian.gif  Participation on on-going strategic planning for the improvement of structure, organization, and operations of justice system; Improving the effectiveness of court operations; 

trian.gif  Strengthening  the ethical practices of judges and the bar; Increasing the public's awareness of right and of how to enforce these rights through the judicial system.

THE JUSTICE SECTOR REFORM ACTIVITY AND CASEFLOW MANAGEMENT/ BACKLOG REDUCTION

According to a recently completed report, significant proportions of civil execution cases remain pending in the courts after more than 2 years. In late 2005, the Justice System Reform Activity in Kosovo (JSRAK) completed a study examining case flow and pending caseload in each of the five district courts and in a cross-section of five municipal courts. This report, entitled "Statistical Studies of Case Flow and Pending Caseload in Selected Courts," identified the pace of litigation in each of the ten courts...
