Trinidad and Tobago: Exchange with D.C. Superior Court Family Services

In December 2019, as a result of NCSC support to the Juvenile Court Project (JCP) of the Judiciary of Trinidad and Tobago,  the Probation Department of the D.C. Superior Family Court Services conducted training of new probation officers of the Children Court of Trinidad and Tobago.  Four probation experts in juvenile court matters led the training.

The probation training was an extension of the partnership developed between the D.C. Superior Family Court Services and the judiciary of Trinidad and Tobago through the JCP project in 2015. As part of the JCP, NCSC provided technical support to develop the children’s court—the first in the Caribbean. The JCP furthers the implementation of the Children Act of 2012 to achieve the goals of child rehabilitation and restoration in the new Children Court system.
