Panama: Strengthening Youth Violence Prevention Skills

On April 23 - 25, 2018, NCSC organized a training program on youth violence prevention skills for 28 members of the Community Preventive Unit (UPC) of the National Police of Samaria, District of San Miguelito, in Panama City. The workshop included training to develop understanding of teen and family relationships, the role of educators and schools, preventing addiction and drug use, countering bias and discrimination , and practical techniques for anger management.

The program curriculum was based on the Manual of Youth Violence Prevention developed by NCSC as part of the Juvenile Justice and Youth Empowerment Program, sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Panama. The Manual is designed to serve as a step-by-step guide for educators and social workers on crime prevention and conflict management. NCSC has conducted similar trainings for public school educators, social workers and community members.
