Costa Rica: Advancing Criminal Justice and Juvenile Justice Reform

In December 2014, NCSC launched the Justice Sector Reform and Prosecutorial Capacity Building program in Costa Rica, funded by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL). The program has two main components: Juvenile Justice Reform and Capacity Building in the Criminal Justice System.

NCSC will support the judiciary, civil society organizations and rehabilitation centers to improve outcomes for young people in contact with the justice system and promote alternative sentencing, where possible. Additionally, NCSC will work with the judiciary and legal profession to strengthen transparency and accountability.  NCSC looks forward to working with our counterparts on this exciting program!
