Eastern Caribbean: NCSC Assesses Asset Forfeiture and Management Frameworks
In October 2016, NCSC conducted an Asset Forfeiture and Seized Asset Management assessment in four partner Caribbean countries: St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Dominica, and Antigua and Barbuda. The assessment was conducted as part of ongoing efforts to counter financial crime and organized crime in the Caribbean. NCSC’s assessment team visited all four host countries to meet with key local partners including Financial Investigation Units, Offices of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and other justice sector stakeholders to discuss current seized asset management practices, problems, or blockages within current systems and potential viable solutions. Following the in-country assessments, NCSC compiled and circulated key findings and recommendations to INL and host country partners.
The assessment was held as part of NCSC’s ongoing work under the Justice Sector Assistance to the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative Program (CBSI), funded by the Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
